Obituary

"May The Work I've Done Speak For Me" ROMUS SILAS MAKELL, son of the late Joseph and Alease Makell, was born on December 21, 1934 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on May 16, 2013 at Arlington Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. "Ronnie," as he was known to family and friends, attended St. Pius Catholic School and also matriculated in the Baltimore City Public School System. He found Christ as a member of the St. Pius V. Roman Catholic Church, where he was a member for most of his life. Ronnie married the late Ulene Makell and from that union two children were born. Romus worked at the Koch Office Supply Company for many years, spending the last years of his life before retirement at the Lee Furniture Store. A quiet person who was very kind and generous to all who knew him, Ronnie always had a smile on his face. His favorite pastime was sitting on his front steps with a cold Pepsi and a cigarette talking to neighbors or whoever past by with a land word. We will miss him dearly. Romus had five siblings, three of which preceded him in death: his twin brother, Remus Makell; and two sisters, Bernadine Makell and Sylvia Parker; and his oldest daughter, Cecilia Ward (Makell). He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Ulita and Sararicka Makell; six grandsons, Gary, Lamont, Damonde and Kevin Ward, Lauren "Chino" and Lauron Taylor; two sisters, Margaret Makell and Paulette Jennings; one brother-in-law, Edward Jennings; two aunts, Gertrude Taylor and Cecilia Malone; two godchildren, Jaquita Magginson and Antonio Dorsey; three sisters-in-law, Charlene, Patricia and Helen; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
