Obituary

On the morning of July 22, 2014, RONALD EDWARD NICHOLSON passed away peacefully. He was the sixth child and the youngest son of the late Lloyd A. Nicholson and Ellen G. Nicholson. He gave his life and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. Ronnie was a long time resident of Miami, Florida, but had lived in many other states since leaving his childhood home in Baltimore at the age of 19. He lived in California, New York, Chicago and Detroit before making Florida his home. In 1992, he helped rebuild Florida after hurricane Andrew. Carpentry was in his blood, but was not his passion. He found his passion in education and mentoring. He went on to obtain his GED. This was by far one of his biggest accomplishments. He earned his A.S. degree at Miami Dade College, In 2008, he began working for Miami Rescue Mission where he remained for five years as an Addiction Specialist. Still working towards his goal, in 2013 Ronnie graduated from Florida Atlantic University, earned his B.S. degree and moved to Fort Lauderdale to be closer to his dream job at North Broward Hospital as a Social Worker. His diagnosis forced him to retire and move back to Baltimore. Always giving to various charities and his family, Ronnie was a caring and invaluable friend. He enjoyed football, baseball, watching movies and telling corny jokes. He loved spending time on the phone with his nieces (daughters), and traveling was a must; Dominican Republic, China (twice) and Mexico. He loved to speak dfferent languages and spoke them like a native Spanish, Chinese or Korean person. But nothing could come close to a good game of pool with his large pool table in his dining room where he spent countless hours playing.
