ROOSEVELT WILLIAMS, son of the late Prince and Emma Elliott Williams, was born on February 17, 1933 in Cherokee, South Carolina. He was one out of ten children. He received his education at Shanklin Elementary School in Burton, SC. Roosevelt graduated from Robert Small High School in Beaufort, SC. After graduation, he went into the United States Army from April of 1952 until March of 1955, receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of Corporal. He then met and later married Dorothy G. Hussey on May 6, 1974. Roosevelt started working at John McShane, which later became Whiting and Turner from 1965 until he retired on March 1, 1993. He started as a Truck Driver and then became a Foreman. He leaves to mourn: his loving wife, Dorothy; three daughters, Sharon (Gordon), Brenda (Gerald) and Cathie (Donald); three sons, Dennis (Tosha), Paul (Shirley) and Roscoe (Nellie) (his baby girl, Shelia Williams preceded him in death). Roosevelt also leaves a devoted family of siblings: Therman (Alma) of Yemassee, SC, Prince (Bessie) of Walterboro, SC and Lizzie Brown of Yemassee, SC; two in-laws, Frankie Lee (Uncle Bill preceded him in death) and Willie Delaney (Aunt Blossom preceded him in death). He was also preceded in death by: his brothers, Haskell and Luther; and his sisters, Maggie, Evalena and Louise.
