Obituary

On January 17, 1938, Ms. Rosa Lee Burton , was born to the late
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel and Mattie Cheatham in Baltimore, Maryland.
Rosalee obtained her education within the Baltimore City Public
School System including Carver High School. As a child, she was
a member of Seven Day Adventist Church and later joined Jubliee
Now Ministries in Baltimore, Maryland. Even in her lowest moments,
she was confident that God would take good care of her.

Knowing her great love for family, God blessed her to meet and
marry the late George Bruton, Jr. Eight precious children were born
to this union - Sheila, Deborah, Cornelia, Germaine, Denis, Doreen,
Lionel, and Terry. Later in life, she met the late William Jordan and
one son was born unto them - Kevin. Three children preceded her in
death - Sheila, Cornelia, and Lionel.

Rosalee worked various jobs throughout the years, but her
greatest passion was serving both her family and the "entire
community". Ms. Bruton, affectionately known to many in the
neighborhood as "Ma", was gifted with a missionary's heart. She
was known as the "Bea Gaddie" of her local area. Many times, her
children would come home to discover that they had new siblings as their
mother often adopted some of the neighborhood residents as her own.
She was not concerned about their status or what type of lifestyle they
were living; her focus was making sure that they were fed and felt loved.
Her greatest joy was thinking of as many events as she could to gather
her family together for a time of fun-cookouts, Sunday dinners, holidays,
parties, or just random gatherings. She enjoyed spending time with her
family and friends, dancing, cooking, and playing pinochle as well as bingo.

This loving mother, nurturing grandmother, compassionate
great-grandmother, caring sister, and loyal friend was loved by
so many people that she encountered throughout life.
On November 8, 2017, God took her hand and offered her a seat
over in the glory land. While she shall be missed by all the lives
she has touched, we find peace in knowing that her new address
comes with the benefit of her now being made whole.

She leaves to carry on her legacy: four precious daughters -
Deborah, Germaine, Denise, and Doreen; two loving sons -
Terry and Kevin; one sister - Elizabeth Brice; twenty-five
grandchildren; fifty-eight great grandchildren; a very close friend -
Janice; and host ofloving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives,
and friends.
