IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rosalee
Ivory
March 20, 1920 – January 28, 2017
Rosalee Johnson Ivory,
the daughter of the late Willie
Johnson and Maggie Rutherford Johnson, and sister to the late
James Hubbard and Willeen Johnson Shields, was born on
March 20, 1920, in Kershaw County, South Carolina. In the
early morning of January 28, 2017, at the age of 96, the LORD
called her home on the wings of HIS angel of mercy.
Rosalee was educated in Kershaw County and left at an early
age to work, and later marry Morris Ivory, in New York City.
To this union were born five children; Joseph, Morris, Peggy,
Almeda (deceased) and Roslyn (deceased) Ivory. While in
New York, Rosalee held several jobs in the restaurant industry.
After observing the skills of the trade from the cooks, Rosalee
combined her natural gift of cooking with her hard work and
determination to succeed, and became a chef in Baltimore.
Rosalee became the head cook at the Baltimore Gas and Elec-
tric Company and left there to become chef at the Maryland
Club of Baltimore, from which she retired. She was an out-
standing cook and she enjoyed cooking for others. Some of
her favorites were homemade rolls, macaroni and cheese, cab-
bage and shrimp scampi with rice.
Rosalee was baptized at an early age. When she moved to
Baltimore, Rosalee and her children worshiped at Cherry Hill
Baptist Church and Brown's Memorial Baptist Church before
he joined Gospel Tabernacle Church, where she attended until
her health prevented her from doing so. Rosalee loved the
LORD and she loved her church family. Rosalee was an avid
and bold witness for GOD every day the LORD gave her! She
ought out opportunities to share the Gospel with anyone who
would listen. She always had a praise and a song on her lips,
and was not ashamed to share JESUS and the Good News, that
the gift of salvation is for all who will accept. Her favorite

the Christian Broadcast Network and listening to her gospel
music on the radio and television.
