IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rosalie I.
Wiggins
August 8, 1935 – September 26, 2017
ROSALIE IVA WIGGINS,
daughter of the late Leroy and Florence
Pettigrew, was born on August 8, 1935, in Baltimore, Maryland. She
departed this life on September 26, 2017.
Rosalie received her education in the Baltimore City Public School
System. Rosalie had a strong work ethic and held several jobs. She
worked for the private industry, Baltimore City Government and finally
the Federal Government, where she was employed with the Social
Security Administration in Woodlawn, Maryland before retiring after 30
years of dedicated service. During her tenure with the Social Security
Administration, she received several awards of recognition for her hard
work and dedication.
Rosalie met and married the late Alex D. Wiggins and from that union
two daughters were born, Doreen and Constance.
Rosalie was baptized at an early age at Union Temple Baptist Church.
She was a strong believer in her Christian faith. Her favorite scripture in
the Bible was the Psalm 23.
Rosalie enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City, Foxwoods Resort, and Las
Vegas, Nevada. She loved playing bingo and a good game of pinochle.
She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her
grandchildren James Edward Kent, III (aka LJ) and [amia, whom she
loved dearly. Rosalie loved cooking for her family, especially during
the holidays. She also loved listening to all types of music from gospel
to R&B. She was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and sang at
family gatherings alongside her brother James and her sister, the late
Mary Harrison. When requested, she sang at various events.
Rosalie was a kind and loving person and would do anything to help
anyone without hesitation. She loved her family unconditionally. She
made numerous friends wherever she went. She was a confidant to
many. She was also a strong woman and never backed down from a
challenge.
Rosalie leaves to mourn: her two daughters, Doreen Wiggins-Kent and
Constance McPherson (Gary); a brother, James Pettigrew (Ann), two
other sisters-in-law, Hazel Kelly and Willie Mae Snowden; one aunt,
Janet Johns; two grandchildren, James Edward Kent, III and Jamia Kent;
nephew, William Burrell (Tonia); niece, Deborah Pettigrew (Tommy); and
a host of other relatives and friends.
