IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rose Marie
Boyd-Wells
February 1, 1972 – April 5, 2018
Rose Marie Boyd-Wells, daughter of the late Annie Marie Epps and
James Willie Boyd was born in Baltimore, MD on February 1, 1972.
"Cookie", as she was affectionately called by everyone who loved her,
was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April S, 2018. She was
preceded in death by her sister Catherine Epps-Lowery, brother Willie Boyd,
nephew Darius, and niece Nalique.
Rose received Christ at a young age at St. Peter's Church of God and True Holiness
under the leadership of the late Bishop Robert Lee Martin. She was recently baptized
and filled with the Holy Spirit while attending Mt. Joy Missionary Baptist Church in
Bishopville, SC, under Pastor L.B. Small. She was a loving, faithful, and dedicated
member of this ministry until her passing.
Rose received her high school education at Walbrook High School in Baltimore, MD.
After moving to South Carolina, Rose attended Morris College where she received a
Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education degree with Cum Laude Honors in May 2003.
She taught at several school districts throughout South Carolina, including Sumter County,
Williamsburg County and Florence County. Most recently she worked in Lee County at Lee
Central Middle School, where she was a loving and devoted math teacher, colleague, and
friend. Rose loved her students. She developed many special bonds and relationships with
many throughout her career. Of those students, the Lord sent her two special Godchildren,
Frankye Simmons and Donnie June, whom she loved as her own. She also loved their
children as her very own grandchildren who referred to her as Grandma Cookie.
Rose also worked at a correctional facility in South Carolina where she was an educator
in the GED program. In December 2014, "Blue Bomb" became a member of the Zeta Phi
Beta Inc. Sorority.
Rose met and fell in love with Donnie Wells of Turbeville, SC. They were united in marriage
on November 19,2005 in Sumter SC.
Cookie had enough Love for the whole entire world. She was a jokester and loved to laugh
until she cried. She loved to sing and dance and loved her hometown club music. She loved
to cook, and her family looked forward to her home cooked meals on her visits to Baltimore.
She had an extraordinary and passionate love for her family and friends. Being the youngest
of her siblings, she was our crybaby. She expressed the value of receiving a quality education.
Most importantly, she was a woman after God's own heart and strived to give God her best
and live pleasingly in His sight.
Aunt Cookie loved her nieces and nephews and helped to nurture each and everyone of them.
Rose leaves to mourn her passing and treasure memories of her love: husband, Donnie Wells; mother/father-in-law, Duty and Julia Wells; sisters, Betty (Ronnie) Miller, Berniece (David)
