Rose Marie Chavis was born on February 4, 1939 to Virginia Bates and the late Purcell bates in Shadyside, Maryland. she departed this life on May 29, 2010. She received her education through the Baltimore City Public School System. Rose worked as a GNA for twenty-eight years and was last employed at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Rose was an out spoken, easy going, and very friendly person. She was known to always have kids around, and hold a exciting conversation. rose always created nicknames for the kids, which stuck with them where ever they went. she also loved to spend time with her grand and great-grandchildren as she spoiled them. Rose will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Chavis. She leaves to cherish her memory; her mother, Virginia Bates; daughter; Tama Smith; two sons, bobbet and Bovano Chavis; sister, Margaret; three brothers, Alphonso, Herman and Stevie Sr., one brother-in-law, five sisters-in-law, five grandchildren, Marcell Canyon, tammira NaNa, Tanai Sagie, Marquis Pin, and Tammesha Thim-Thim; three great-grandchildren, Martesha Sonya and two arriving soon; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
