Rose B. Jackson, daughter of the late Hollie and Taska Harry was born on May 10, 1929 in Bishopville, South Carolina. Rose was one of seven children, She departed this life on March 28, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Rose received received her formal education in the Lee County Public School System. She met and married Alonzo Jackson in the early 1940's. Alonzo and rose eventually moved to Baltimore, Maryland where they began their family. Their union produces eleven children, six who preceded them in death Minnie Deminds, Margaret Thomas, Vanessa Jackson, Elax Jackson, Berkley Jackson, and Linette Jackson. Rose accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. You could always go to "Mama" if you had a problem and leave with the feeling that everything would be okay. She would say, "The Lord won't put anymore on you, than you can bear!" With her encouraging words, a good tasting meal was always available. "Mama loved to cook and feed people. In addition to her natural children, she had numerous "adopted"" children, whom she took in and raised as her own. She was employed by Smith Guest Home as a nursing assistant for many years. After retiring, she open her own assisted living home. She leaves to cherish her memory; three daughters, Rose Jackson, Laura Jackson and Dana Cox; two sons, Larry Jackson and Derek Jackson; two sisters, Ruth Prescott and Jean Porter; one brother-in-law, Thomas Porter;; one son-in-law, Edwin Cox; two daughters-in-law, Marion Jackson and Tonya Jackson; 29 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends..
