Born in Baltimore on June 18, 195 Rowena adopted as amine devoted mother, Bessie Solomon. She passed away at her home in Owings Mills, Maryland on April 12, 2026, at the age of 70. Her roots in the city ran deep; she was educated in the Baltimore City School System and attended Laurence C. Paguin Middle/ Secondary School. It was during these formal years that she met her teenage love, George Nesmith. The pair wed in August of 1973. Through that union two children were born. Dominic L. Nesmith Sr. (affectionately known as "Peanut") and Dontrelle Nesmith (affectionately known as "Pumpkin" or "Trellie") Rose was a woman of ambition and deep passion. After graduating, she attended The Medix School in Baltimore where she earned her CNA/GNA certification. She served her community at Denton Medical Center, where she was known for her steady hands and nurturing heart. Her compassion extended to all living things; Rose was known for taking in stray dogs and cats, transforming them into cherished family. Among them, none held a more special place in her than her favorite tabby cat, Skittles.
At home, Rose was the conductor of a joyful, lively household. She was an avid reader and an exceptional cook, but her greatest passion was music. She famously kept a radio playing in almost every room of her house. While she was a loyal listener of Magic 95.9, her heart truly belonged to the music of Luther Vandross. Whether she was cooking a meal, tending to her pet, plants and aquatic fish or laughing along with reruns of Sanford & Son, there was almost always a melody in the air.
Rose was a woman of warmth, wit and rhythm. She was proceeded in death by her mother, Bessie Solomon and her beloved daughter, Dontrelle Nesmith. She is survived by her son, Dominic, daughter in law, Kendra Nesmith, two grandchildren, Dominique Nesmith and Dominic Nesmith Jr., two great grandchildren, Kaylee and Danielle Estridge, her faithful companion, Skittles; and a host of family and friends who will forever miss her cooking, her laughter and the "Power of Love" she shared with every soul she met.
