RUBY DELL PITTMAN, daughter of the late Arthur and Etta Hill
was born March 5, 1925 in Whitaker, North Carolina. Ruby met and
married Jessie Pittman, Sr. and relocated to Baltimore, Maryland. Ruby
departed this life peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday evening April 19,
2016.
RUBY received her education in the North Carolina School System.
"Dell" as she was fondly known to everyone, enjoyed life, cooking and
reaching out to help people. Dell loved her family and her church family
very much. Dell was self-employed as a seamstress and this was her
passion. Ruby was a dedicated, faithful member and mother of the Refuge
Way of the Cross Church under the leadership of Bishop Leroy H. Canna-
dy, where she praised and worshipped God with all her heart. She was
serious about her relationship and walk with God, and encouraged her
family to get to know Him and to take the same walk.
DELL was preceded in death by her husband, J essie Pittman, Sr.,
and six of her children: Jessie, Jr., Bessie, Betty, Elaine, Diane, Melvin
and two of her sisters: Orbie Ricks and Marine Cherry.
RUBY leaves in the loving and caring hands of Jesus to cherish her
memories: her daughter, Cynthia Diggs (Bishop Jerry Diggs); loving
granddaughter and caregiver, Wanda Pittman; 26 grandchildren; 50 great
grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends; and all of her dedicated caregivers.
The Lord is too wise to err, and too just to be unkind
God saw her road was getting rough, the hills were hard to climb,
He gently closed her loving eyes on April 19, 2016 and whispered
