Obituary

RUDOLPH CHARLES JOHNSON, JR. was bom on May 30, 1951 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the first child born to Addie Johnson and the late Rudolph Charles Johnson Sr. At the age of ten Rudolph gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Mt. Hatton Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Oscar O'Harley. Rudolph peacefully departed his life on June 26, 2013 after a brief illness. Rudolph was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System where he attended Mergenthaler Vocational High School. He was an academic achiever, attending enrichment and honors classes during his junior and senior high school experiences. Working started early in his life. As a young man he worked for the family-owned business, Johnson's Confectionery, selling and delivering produce and top soil. He even ran the fish, oyster and seafood market. As an adult, he spent many years working for government agencies such as the United States Postal Service, the Naval Academy, the Army at Fort Meade, Social Security Administration, and the Census Bureau. His employment was not limited to the government; he also worked for private industries such as General Motors Corporation and Saint Joseph's Hospital. Rudolph was well known and liked by friends and neighbors in the community. To all, he was known as Rudy. On August 2, 1969, Rudy married Sheila Rusk, and they later were divorced. Out of this union two children were born. Later, Rudy was blessed with his third son. Rudy enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Often times his conversations were brief, but powerful and meaningful. He always greeted everyone with a warm smile and, "Hey, how you doing!" Rudy was preceded in death by his father, Rudolph Charles Johnson, Sr.; his sister, Tina Johnson; his brother, Carlis Daugherty; and his nephew, Clarence Hamlet, Jr. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his mother, Addie Johnson; three children, Rudolph Charles Johnson III, Randolph Craig Johnson Sr. and Dominic Johnson; one daughter-in-law, Monica Johnson; ten grandchildren, Niya Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Randolph Johnson Jr., Brianna Moseby, Dalonpe Myles, Dietrick Pirns and Inara Harrison, and three others; one great-grandchild, Koreah Richardson; five siblings, Paula Johnson-Branch, Rudolphia Shelton, Reginald Johnson, Sonia Johnson and Cheryl Huff; two sisters-in-law, Colleen Daugherty and Darlene Johnson; one brother-in-law, Eric Shelton; uncles, Carl Johnson and Vernon Cook; five aunts, Evella Johnson, Peggy Wallington, Karen Johnson, Emily Johnson and Naomi Cook; two very special friends, Betty Barnes and Stanley Black; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
