"To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under the heaven."- Ecclesiastes 3:1 A TIME TO BE BORN Rudolph Royden Sterrette-El (known as Rudy or Short Man), the son of the late Bernard and Ella (Ms. Pettye) Sterrette, was born January 24,1949 in Baltimore, MD. Rudy was the eldest of five children. A TIME TO DIE Rudy departed this life and transitioned to a better and victorious home on Monday April 29,2013 at the age of 64. A TIME TO BUILD Rudy received his education from the Baltimore City Public School System. As a young man, Rudy accepted Islam and became a member of the Moorish Science Temple of America. Rudy married Deborah Ingram on March 13,1970. Though the couple separated and subsequently divorced, their union blessed them with his first child, James John Sterrette. Rudy was later blessed with son Rentate, daughter Trinae, son Kemoni, and graciously acknowledged Keona as his daughter. Rudy was very proud of all of his children and loved them dearly. Rudy was employed in various retail positions. Later in life he worked with his brother-in-law at the Midnite Social Club and Lantz's Place. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-own and operate the "El & Bey" Car Wash on Gwynn Falls Pkwy. A TIME To LOVE I To know Rudy was to love him; you couldn't help it, you had no choice. He loved his family and friends very much. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in needall you had to do was ask. He genuinely cared about helping people and will be remembered for his kind heart and servant spirit. A TIME TO SHARE Rudy was full of life which he enjoyed with a wholesome sense of humor. His sense of style was demonstrated by his meticulous appearance; he was the definition of Swag. Rudy's friendly nature, charismatic personality, and smile would light up any room. The respect he gave and received allowed him to be a friend to many; he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Some of his favorite past times were teaching and shooting pool, playing pinochle, and gathering in Baltimore's famous Lexington Market to discuss current events. TIME TO SAY "I MUST LEAVE" Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Ella Sterrette; and brother, Jeffery.He leaves to cherish his memory: sisters, Cheryl Stevenson (Lantz) and Cynthia Bass (Tyrone) of Tennessee, brothers, Gregory Sterrette-El and MSG. Craig Sterrette; sister-in-law, Kim Sterrette; sons, James "Suggie" (Pam), Rentate "Squirt", and Kemoni "Moe"; daughters, Trinae Sterrette Brown-El and Keona Lewis; two aunts, Duvall Gibson and Edna Conway; six grandchildren, Tache, Kendul, Naasira, Makaia, Na-ilah and Jayden; longtime companion, Pamela Talley; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, relatives and many friends.
