Russell Forest ('Da') was born May 1, 1934 in Red House, Virginia to the late Major and Sallie Barksdale Forest. Our beloved Da was called home on October 18, 2018.Russell attended church at Mount Zion Baptist Church. In the early 1950's he served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. After his tour of duty, in the late 1950's, he moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he worked various jobs until he gained employment with HABC (Housing Authority of Baltimore City), Lafayette Housing Development as a Custodian/Maintenance Man.After a short stint at Lafayette, the hardworking maintenance man transferred to Flag House Housing Development as the night's Maintenance Man. Da would shine in this role for more than 30 years; his neighbors, turned friends, would come to rely on him 24 hours a days, 7 days a week. The friendly maintenance man became a father-figure to the children of Flag House, a brother to those who needed a shoulder to lean on and just a kind man who provided much needed words of inspiration.Adored by all who knew him, he was above-all, a loving family man but Da also loved his music and sports; in his kitchen at Flag House you could find newspaper articles praising his favorite sports teams such as the Orioles, Colts, Ravens and his favorite basketball team The Boston Celtics. In his family room there were pictures of his children and grandchildren along with his entertainment center complete with an eight-track and record player. Da had a way of turning a simple "hey, how are you"into a conversation that seemed to last for what seemed like forever, but we now know that forever wasn't long enough. Viewing Joseph H.
