Russell Eugene Gibson Sr., was born on November 5, 1955 in Baltimore, Maryland and the Lord called him home on September 9,2016.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Shirley and Edward Gibson; brother, Ralph Hill; brother-in-law, Melvin Wright Jr., and two sisters-in-law, Laverne Wright and Eursella Hill.

Russell, who was known as Spedo, was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools, and in 1974 he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. Following High School, he briefly served in the United States Marine Corps.

At the age of 11, Russell was introduced to the love of his life Gwendolyn "Sookie" Wright. God blessed them with one son, "Lil Russ", who is a testament to the love of their 49 year journey. Spedo loved his son beyond measure and everyday for 13 years they worked side-by-side at Maines Paper & Food. Their coworkers lovingly referred to them as "Sr." & "J r." .

Spedo was the definition of a hard working man. Throughout his life he faced many challenges and adversities but no matter how much pain he was in or the size of the task, he laced up his boots and faced it head on.

Spedo loved westerns, the Syfy network and of course football season so he could watch The Ravens play. But most of all he loved spending time with his family and his friends.

Remaining to cherish his memory are: Gwendolyn E. Wright; son, Rus- sell E. Gibson Jr.; beloved grand-daughter, Taliya Gibson; nieces, Kati- era Davis and Janeen Hill, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
