IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruth
Davis
April 25, 1932 – April 21, 2024
"You Got to Use Elbow Grease."
Ruth Davis was the eighth of nine children born to the late Mary Lou Brown and James Brown Sr. She was born on April 25, 1932, in Baltimore, Maryland. Her parents, husband, two sons
and all of her siblings preceded her in death.
Ruth was a very loving and caring woman. She went to night school and received her GED from Cherry Hill Junior High School. Ruth also worked at Maryland General Hospital as a Nurses' Assistant. No matter who she met; they would say she was a sweet person. Whatever you did for her she would always say "Thank You". Ruth loved to dress up, wear hats, and put on her red lipstick and jewelry while enjoying the nightlife during her younger years with her husband and friends.
"Mama", as we called her, was a short, stern person but had a heart of Gold. She loved her babies and there was no problem with her babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked coloring, doing arts and crafts and participated in Art and Crafts at the senior citizen building where she lived. On weekends, Mama had a house full of children including five other cousins. Mama was so unique, she was able to prepare a simple meal for all 14 kids plus her and her husband which included making homemade biscuits, cornbread with crackling and on Saturday mornings the aroma of hot homemade rolls lit up the neighborhood where we lived. There was always Love in our House growing up.
Mama Ruth leaves to mourn five daughters, Linda & Donne Davis, Deborah Watkins, Romaine Cole (Hershel Cole), Dinah Davis-Derrien (Bernard Derrien) two sons Thomas and Trench Davis and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
