On Sadturday, September 3, 2011, God in His infinite wisdom called home one of His very own, Ruth McCormick. Ruth was born to the late Pearl Kennedy and Brian Wilkes on March 1, 1926 in Chester, South Carolina. Ruth was educated in Chester, South Carolina where she spent her early adult life until moving to Baltimore, Maryland. Here she found employment as a Supply Aide at John Hopkins Hospital, a position she held for thirty-eight years. In 1986, she married Charles McCormick and the two spent many wonderful years together until his death in 1991. Ruth accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Christian Memorial Church where she served on the Christian Women's Fellowship until her declining health prevented her from continuing service. Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles; brother, Columbus Morant an son, Lester Sawyer, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory; cousins, Creola Scurry and Standford Sade Holley; two step daughters, Charlene Pindell Leonard Pindell and Christine McCormisk; on step son, Robert McCormick and a host of other relatives and friends.
