Ms. Sallie Easter Ellis transitioned to her

heavenly home early in the morning on Friday

January 17, 2020 in Laurel, MD.

She was born to Ruffin Sr. and Dora Easter

Edwards on February 18,1931 in Greensville, VA

where she was educated at The Greensville Training

School. In 1949, she married Wallace Ellis and they

relocated to Mt. Vernon, NY. She owned several thrift

stores in the Mt. Vernon area and had an avid love

for art, antiques, and photography.

Preceded in transition by her 12 siblings, Rev.

David Edwards, Ruffin Edwards Jr., Willie Edwards,

Solomon Edwards, Dora Baylor, Rev. Pattie Lee,

Evelyn Owens, Rev. Christine Gorham, Catherine

Green, Margaret Green, Josephine Edwards, and

Beatrice Spencer, her legacy is treasured and

honored by her daughter, Ann Chavis, her

granddaughters, Stacey Taylor and Jamie Cousins

(Stanley), and her great-grandchildren, Tylar

Washington (Taylen), Noah Hamid, and Trey Cousins,

her many nieces, nephews, and all of those who

loved her.
