Our beloved Sam Abraham McBride was born on April 22, 1925 in Summerton, South Carolina from the union of the late Elijah McBride and Emma Jane Crenshaw. He was the youngest of ofur children who preceded him in death. Heaven's gate opened for him early afternoon on May 4, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Sam attended St. Paul's School in Clarendon County, Summerton, South Carolina and he attended Liberty Hill A.M. E. Church, as a young man. His eduction continued in the U.S. Army where he received an honorable discharge in 1946. He then migratd to Baltimore; where he joined other family members and found employment with the Sparrows Point Shipyard. He also drove cabs many, many years. Sam later became emoloyed with the Social Security Administration. While at Social Security, he met and married the late Venus Helena Freeman in 1956. Sam was known to many as Mac,Pal,Unk,Pop,Daddy and Father. He was a simple, no-frills man who enjoyed gardening and western movies. In his younger days, he also loved to go fishing. From boys to men-Sam and his brothers were bosom buddies to their end. He truly missed his weekend traveling companions. In 1982, Sam retired from his long tenure with Social Security, but he dare not fully retire; he continued with his live of driving. On June 28, 1984, Sam married Isabelle Alston, his childhood sweetheart, whofaithfully ran the race with him to the end. Before Sam's illness, he became a member of Allen African Methodist Espiscopal Church in Baltimore and began to enjoy his retirement by frequently traveling to his hometown. His absolute most favorite thing to do was gathering family and friends for good food and memorable times. He will be missed by many near and far. Sam is survived by wife, seven children,two stepchildren,ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Carry on ....we'll see you again one day.
