SAMUEL RICHARD BARBEE, was born on November 11, 1922. He was the seventh child born to the late John Henry and Sarah Brooks Barbee in Drakes Branch, Charlotte County, Virginia. He slipped away peacefully into the arms of our Heavenly Father on November 3. 2012 at 5:05 am at the Veterans Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Richard as he was fondly called and his family would migrate to Baltimore, Maryland where he received his formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System. Later he enlisted in the Military Services for a period of one year receiving an honorable discharge in 1943. During Richards's childhood, he confessed a love for the teaching of the Bible and God's love. He was an active member in many church groups until his health became a challenge, especially the Great Choir at New Shiloh Baptist Church. He also became a life-long member of the New Shiloh Baptist Church on Monroe Street in Baltimore, Maryland until his transition. Richard had retired from the United States Coast Guard Services after twenty-two years of gainful employment in 1989. While retired, he obtained employment on a part=time basis with the Heritage Automotive Group in Reisterstown, Maryland. He was an enthusiastic person who enjoyed life, traveling and different social events. He was also devoted to his family and friends. He would demonstrate his thoughtfulness, consideration and concern for others by visiting the sick or running errands for the sick. During his later years, Richard would enjoy having holiday dinners with his family and friends while discussing politics. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Beatrice October, 1993; his daughter, Ronetta Irene Barbee Weaver October, 2011; two brothers, Horace and William; and two sisters, Blanch Taylor and Carrie Smallwood.
