Samuel U. Edwards, son of the late James Rufus Edwards and Pearl Lavenia Pitts Edwards was born June 22,1928 in Glen Burnie, MD and departed this life on Saturday, December 7, 2013. He was predeceased by 4 brothers, James, Nathan, Thomas and Howard and 1 sister, Mary Frances Stewart. He received his education in the Anne Arundel County Public School System and accepted Christ at an early age. He retired from Harbison and Walker after 24 years of service. Sammy served as an Usher and on the Hall Male Chorus during his early years. He also served in the US Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a sergeant. He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Hattie Mae Edwards; 1 daughter (his little girl) Jerrie Gaither; 1 son, George Edwards; adopted son, Timothy Edwards and 1 godson, Kevin Milton; 9 grandchildren, 7 great grand-children, 1 great great grandson, Jeremiah; 3 nieces and 1 special niece, Francine Bacote; 4 grand nieces, 2 nephews and 1 special nephew, Cecil Stewart, Jr., 2 brothers-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law, and a host of other relatives and friends.
