Samuel Watkins Jr. went horne to be with the Lord on
January 11, 2019 after a lengthy illness. He was born on
October 11, 1935 in Norlina, North Carolina to the late
Samuel and Elizabeth Moss Watkins.

Sammy Jr. or Sam, as he was affectionately called, attended
Vance County Public Schools. He started working various
jobs at an early age. One of his earlier jobs was working at
Shepard's Funeral Horne in Henderson, North Carolina
where he assisted the funeral director in all activities of the
funeral horne. Sam eventually moved to Baltimore where
he started working for the Baltimore City Public School
Sys-tem as a stationary engineer. After 25 years of faithful
service, Sam retired as an area supervisor overseeing the
Northeast District. After retirement, Sam worked at Bo
Brooks Seafood and Crab house. Sam also had an entrepre-
neurial spirit. He was part owner ofthe 3W Tavern.

Sam loved the Lord. He was a fun and caring person that
liked to entertain. He loved to tell stories to family and
friends. He enjoyed good food, nice clothes and cars. He
also loved to watch Westerns.

Sam leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of 51 years
Carolyn Terry Watkins; four children, Randolph Watkins
(Lillian) of Spring Lake, NC, Johnny Watkins of Hender-
son, NC, Pamela Watkins of Baltimore, MD, and Gerald
Watkins of Baltimore, MD; five grandchildren Angela
Watkins Burton, Yolanda Watkins LeMay (Everett), Tenee
Watkins Stephenson (Carlos), Erick Watkins, and Domin-
ique Watkins; three great-grand children Evan Burton,
Austin Burton, and Erick Watkins Jr.; two sister-in-laws,
Joyce Meadows (Harry) of Henderson, NC and Debra
Yarborough (Thomas) of Henderson, NC; and a childhood
friend, Clyde Richardson of Washington, DC and a host of
relatives, friends, and neighbors.
