Obituary

On January 7. 2009, "The Master" peered at His garden and decided to add a fresh rose, He looked upon His daughter, Sandra v. Bowman, and said "I am well pleased." Hence, Sandra was chosen to complement "the Lord's bouquet." the daughter of the late Robert and Grace Freeman, Sandra, was born on July 14, 1951 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. In her youth, she was an active participant in community actives. Toward that end, she attended her local church and accepted christ at a very young age. She married the former Hughie Bowman, and from that union one child was born, Hughie Bowman, Jr., also known as "Eddie." Sandra V. Bowman was blessed with a care taking spirit. She exemplified the aforementioned in her care for her special needs son from birth until he reached 30 years of age. Until her health precluded her ability to sustain her high quality of care for him. At which time he was placed in a residential program. Sandra also extended her gifts and talents to others. She spent a tremendous amount of time volunteering at the schools and affiliate support centers that her son attended. Sandra modeled her life after the lyrics of "If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vein." Sandra loved her city, and embraced every aspect of its uniqueness and charm. She could have starred in commericals for Maryland's blue crab. She ate them frequently. She also enjoyed a variety of music to include gospel and jazz, and watching movies. Sandra was a master at crossword puzzles. She was a kind, compassionate and humble person who never complained. Sandra was outgoing and gregarious, she made numerous friends wherever she went. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her. She was always a true friend and a devoted mother. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Graves and Brenda Edwards. She leaves to mourn; the love of her life, her son, Hughie Eddie Bowman; four nieces; Deborah Gentry, Karen Graves, Gale Carter and Angelita Green; one nephew, Darion Graves, great nieces and nephews, and host of cousins, relatives and friends.
