IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra Elizabeth
Murphy
November 29, 1949 – August 11, 2025
Sandra Elizabeth Murphy, a beacon of love, laughter, and unwavering
support, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025. Born in Baltimore on
November 29, 1949, to Ermille and Edward Spence Sr., Sandra brought joy to all who knew her from the very beginning.
Sandra attended Baltimore City Public Schools, where she cultivated
lifelong friendships. In May of 1969, she married her husband, Dennis
Murphy Jr. Together, they built a beautiful family and raised three devoted
sons: Aaron, Bomani, and Baye.
A truly devoted wife, mother, sister, and daughter, aunt, grandmother
and great-grandmother,. Sandra's presence was a gift. She was
remarkably independent and would rarely ask for help, even when truly
needed, yet she was always there to help everyone when needed. She
had a remarkable ability to connect with people, always ready with a
warm smile, a listening ear, and the latest news. Sandra had an amazing
recall of dates and events, and even when she was ill, she made sure to
mark all special occasions and called everyone on those days, a testament
to her enduring love and thoughtfulness. In her alone time, she loved to
watch her favorite TV shows, play solitaire, and do word search puzzles,
Her vibrant spirit shone brightly whether she was bowling, playing cards,
enjoying bingo, or trying her luck at the casino with her cherished friends.
Family and friends were the cornerstone of Sandra's life; she was always
there when she was needed, offering comfort and unwavering support.
Her culinary skills were legendary, with her chicken salad being a
particular favorite among all.
Sandra dedicated many years to her career as a dental assistant
throughout the Baltimore area, where her compassionate nature and
infectious humor endeared her to colleagues and patients alike, leading
to many lasting friendships.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, beloved brothers, Edward
and Eric. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Murphy Jr., her three
sons, Aaron, Bomani, and Baye, and daughter-in-law, Katana. She is also
survived by her lone sister, Denise; her seven adored grandchildren,
Leslie, Denise, Akilah, Akiva, Cierra, Ava, and Paris; her two precious
great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Sorin: and her nieces and nephews,
Edward Ill, LaShawn, Desmond, Simone, Eric, and Adasha.
Sandra's warmth, generosity, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all
who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever be a
source of comfort and inspiration to her family and friends.
