Obituary

Shelly Vonita Brown, daughter of Sharon. P. Lomax and Calvin Brown, was born on June 3, 1969, in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on January 10, 2015, after a lengthy illness. Shelly was educated in the Baltimore City School System. Shelly struggled through school, learning differently than others, so she was extremely proud to complete and graduate from Northern. High School in 1988. Shelly worked in various fields', retail, dietary aide, housekeeping and many others. She found great joy working with people and making them smile throughout the day, which is what she did at Marshalls in Towson until illness prevented her from continuing. Shelly had a big personality. If she entered a room everyone knew it, most of the time by her announcement "Queen B, (Brown) is here! Shelly enjoyed life. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. Shelly made friends everywhere she went and each group of friends had their own nickname just for her. (Crayon, Ms. Thang etc.) Shelly was a very giving person always willing to help someone in need even if she didn't have much herself. If you wanted to see her face light up, all you needed to do was turn on one of her favorite songs, talk about her son or the rest of her family. Shelly will be remembered for her smile, her giving heart and most of all, for speaking her mind good or bad. Just like one of her aunts, Shelly could lay you out one day and call you the very next day like nothing ever happened, and everyone would respond, "You know how Shelly is", and continue the conversation. Shelly loved spoiling every child she came in contact with, especially her four nephews- Keith, Kevin, Dominique and Malik. Of all the children she made room in her heart to love, she was most proud of her blessing born June 16, 2000, Rashard D. Brown. She loved Rashard more than life and worked very hard to make sure he had the best she could give and more. She stayed on Rashard to make sure he got good grades, had excellent manners, talked to her about everything and pursued opportunities in sports or anything else he was interested in. Shelly loved watching him grow at every stage of his life and remained extremely proud of the young man he has become. Shelly leaves to cherish her memories: Her mother, Sharon P.
