Shirley Celestine Johnson, daughter of the late Frank

and Dorothy C. Wright, was born on September 5, 1942

in Baltimore City. She departed this life Friday, May 13,

2022 after a lengthy illness.

shirley was educated in the Baltimore City School

system. She was a day care provider for well over 25

years, raising many children. She was "Mama" to

everyone. As a child, she attended the family church,

Ebenezer A.M.E, and, in later years, was an active

member of Central Baptist Church.

Booboo, as she was affectionately called by her great-

grandchildren, loved her family, showing her love

through cooking. Family and friends were always

welcomed to her Soul Food Sunday dinners, cookouts,

and especially, holiday dinners. She was known for her

delicious rice pudding, which always caused a fight

because everyone wanted the entire pan! She also

baked cakes and pies, her sweet potatoe pie and pig-

pigging cake being her most requested.

Our Mother loved "going up the road" to casinos! She

loved spending time with her family and friends,

especially the weekly games of dominoes with the

ladies of Smallwood Summit - Ms. Helen, Ms. Pee-Wee,

Ms. Juanita, Ms. Alicia and others.

Shirley was preceded in death by her partner of over

50 years, Earl, her son, Charles, daughter, Donna,

sister Doretha, and brothers Donald and Melvin.

She will be lovingly remembered daughter Rosalyn,

son Randy, brothers Franklin and John, sisters Vivian

(Sherman) and Patricia, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-

grandchildren, 2 great-great-great grandchildren and

a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She

will be dearly missed and loved by all who knew her
