In the early morning of September 6, 2008, God in His infinite wisdom called Shirley Johnson Barnes, who quietly departed this life. Shirley, the daughter of the late Catherine and Fulton Johnson, Sr., was born October 7, 1963. She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. Shirley was known for her great sense of humor and great smile that lit up every room she walked into. She was a caring and giving person. She loved to work with children and adults with disabilities. Shirley was devoted to her job at Progressive Horizons, Inc. and always had a lending ear to anyone who needed to vent. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, a wonderful friend and will be greatly missed. She leaves to cherish her memory; two daughters, Ja'Niece and Ja'Nikka; three stepchildren, Byron Ramona and Antionio; seven grandchildren, Rakeem, Keymani, Bryon, Jr., Serge, Simone, Travon and Ayanna; four sisters, Barbara, Freda, Jeanette and Helen; three brothers, Fulton, Timothy and George; one aunt, Darlene Reggie; eleven nieces, four nephews, and two cousins; a life time friend, Tracy Cowans; and a host of other family members and friends.
