Obituary

Today we celebrate the life and legacy of our beloved first lady, Mrs Shirley McLaurin. Our Mom Shirley Mcl.aurin was born in 1944 to the late Mr. James and Ollie Mae Leach, in South Carolina. Shirley was the first born to her parents who had eleven children. Brothers, Timmy and Ronnie, who both preceded her in death, Johnny and Buddy, all of McColl, South Carolina; sisters, Peggy and Edna, both of Baltimore and Diane, Geraldine, Gloria and Julia, all of South Carolina. Shirley met and married John Frank McLaurin and together they had six children: one daughter, Sheila Vickaryous of Calgary, Alberta, five sons, Jonathon, Gwynethan, Glendale, Corey and Tony, all of Baltimore, Maryland. Mrs. Shirley had a host of close family and friends, which includes grand kids, great grand kids, nieces, nephews, step kids, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, neighbors, daughter-in-laws, son-in-laws, and friends. To have truly known Shirley, was to have truly loved her. She was and is an inspiration to us all. She loved life, she loved hard and had no problem telling you like it is. As a lover of flowers, visiting her at her home meant you would have to pass through a beautiful arrangement of flowers that draped her front porch so elegantly. On Saturday, July 18, 2015 while walking through His garden, God noticed that there was a void in the row of uniquely placed roses, there He saw our mom's name. Shirley's belief in God showed through her unwavering faith and the goodness of her heart to put others needs before her own. So on this day of celebration, we say on to you, our mom did not die, she simply has earned her right to rest and watch her work for Christ pay off .. God bless you all. Memorial Service Joseph H.
