Shirley Mae Way was born in Petersburg, Virginia on September
16, 1947 to the late Robert and Margaret Goodwyn. Shirley was united
in marriage to Grant Way Jr. on November 24, 1987. She departed life
on March 15,2016.

She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School
System, where later she was employed as a substitute teacher and
worked at Eutaw Marshburn Elementary School. Before retiring, she
worked at the State of Maryland, Office of Parole and Probation.

Shirley received the Lord at an early age, and continued to trust in
him. She had a mellow spirited personality, but everyone knew not to
take it lightly. She played the mother role to many. She enjoyed cooking,
dancing, and family gatherings. Her love for her family was selfevident.
To know her was to love her. She had a way of always putting
others before herself.

She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life: Her
husband of many years Grant Way Jr., Sisters: Peggy Goodwyn
(preceded in death), Carolyn Carr, Barbara Jones Brothers: Robert
Goodwyn Jr., Rudolph and Rudon Smith. Sisters in laws: JoAnne
Goodwyn and Patricia Shannon, brother in law: Reginald Way;
Daughter: JoAnn Blackwell; Sons: David, Michael, Brian, Curtis, and
Tyrell Goodwyn . One daughter in law: Shannon Goodwyn. One step
daughter Sheria Way; Two step sons Warren Hargrove and Grant Way
III. Twenty-two Grandchildren Cherise, Chaunte', Dominic, Devron,
Dejae, Tequilla, Kilyiah, Tamiah, Tyrell Jr., Michael, Shania, Maiya,
Brian Jr. (preceded in death), Brittany, Aniya, Amanda, Anmanuel,
her special daughter/niece Tara Jones-Cook her lifelong best
