Obituary

Simpkin "De Albert" Lee, son of the late Edward C. and Evelyn Bryant Lee, was born in Moncure, North Carolina on December 17, 1936. God in His infinite wisdom, called De Albert to rest on August 27, 2011. At a young age, De Albert was baptized at Mt. View A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church, where his parents were two of the co-founders. After graduating from Horton High School in Pittsboro, North Carolina, De Albert relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, where he lived with sister, Bernice and brother-in-law, Willlie Tuck. subsequently, De Albert met and married Zuleen McCaskill, and they were bless with two children, Kevin and Deborah. Shortly after moving to Baltimore, De Albert was employed by University of Maryland Hospital as an operating room assistant, where he provided patient care. He worked as an MTA bus driver until he and his brother, Tyrone, embarked upon an entrepreneurial career. Togather, they owned and operated several businesses such as Lee's Steak House, a liquor store, and a bowling alley, where they affored their children, nieces, and nephews the opportunity to work as teenagers. At that time DeAlbert was an active member of the Black Businessmen's Association. Later in his career, De Albert was the proprietor of a driving school and a home improvement business. De Albert married Lena Brown on June 7, 1969. Lena was a very careing and supportive wife, and provided excellent care to "Lee," as she affectionately called him, until his demise. Lena and DeAlbert became members of Epworth United Methodist Chapel in 1970's, where they renewed their wedding vows on April 26, 2006. De Albert was a man of principle, integrity, and high moral character, and will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and love of family. Certainly an irreplaceable void will forever exist in the lives, hearts, and souls of those who had the special pleasure of knowing and loving him. those left to celebrate his life and cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Lena; his children Kevin and Deborah; daughter-in-law, Debra; grandchildren, Ashley, Anthony, Amye, and Adrian; great-grandson, Christian; his brothers, Lincoln and Tyrone Lee; a sister, Marie Lee, sisters-in-law, Willie B. Sutton and Ruth Lee; a brother-in-law, Winston Sutton; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. DeAlbert was preceded in death by his sisters Nina, Bernice, Grace, and Chloe and brothers Julian, Thomas, Everett, and Frank.
