Solomon Lee McAllister Sr., lovingly known as “Big Simon,” was born on June 4, 1966, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late David Lee McAllister Sr, and Catherine McAllister. He was one of eight children and departed this life peacefully on August 7, 2026, Solomon received his education through the Baltimore City Public School System.

Solomon was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for and taking care of his family. Throughout his life, he held several occupations, including working for the State of Maryland, driving trucks, and working in construction. No matter the job, he understood the value of hard work and the importance of doing what needed to be done. Above all of his accomplishments, Solomon took the greatest pride in being a father. His greatest legacy is carried on through his three children: his eldest daughter, Tyrekia McAllister; his youngest daughter, Saquoya McAllister: and his only son, Solomon Lee McAllister Jr., lovingly known as “Lil Simon.” His children were a source of pride and joy, and through them, a part of Big Simon will continue to live on for generations to come.

Big Simon was a man who was known and loved by many. He had countless friends and was well-liked by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His personality could fill a room, and he was often the life of the party wherever he went. People naturally gravitated toward him because of his outgoing spirit, quick wit, and undeniable presence. He had the gift of gab and could talk to just about anybody, but more than that, he had a way of making people laugh and feel comfortable in his presence. His grandchildren kept him sharp and always on his toes. and his children often found themselves reminding him that he was “getting old and needed to go sit down somewhere.” Those moments, filled with laughter and love, are memories his family will treasure forever. Big Simon had a heart as big as his personality, He was generous, caring, and the kind of person who would give you his very last if he knew you needed it.

Solomon was preceded in death by five of his siblings: Andrew, Rickey, Delphine, Stevie, and Melvin McAllister. He leaves to cherish his memory his three children, Tyrekia McAllister, Saquoya McAllister, and Solomon Lee McAllister Jr. (“Lil Simon”); his daughter-in-law, Taylor McAllister: three grandsons, John Shipley IV, Kairo McAlliste » and Kenzo McAllister: two granddaughters, Samore Hicks and Sanai Nathan: one brother, David Lee McAllister Jr. (“Bu ter”); and one sister, Glori McAllister, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Though Big Simon may no longer be with us in body, his laughter, his stories, his love, his generosity, and the memories he created with those around him will live on forever. His legacy will continue through his children, grandchildren, family, and all those whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, remembered, and forever cherished.
