IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Standford W.
Matthews
April 14, 1958 – July 1, 2023
STANFORD WILLIAM MATTHEWS (PEANUT) was born to the late Hazel Matthews and William Brown Sr. on April 14, 1958 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on July 1, 2023
Stanford, affectionately known to many as "Uncle Nut," grew up in the Lexington Terrace neighborhood where he enjoyed playing basketball, hanging outside, and protecting his siblings. He attended Baltimore City Public Schools. Later, he worked many jobs throughout the city. He loved to visit his father at the Stables where he helped teach the neighborhood children to ride the horses. He also loved to sing and listen to "Oldie but Goodie" music. You could often find him at Lexington Market listening to the Bands.
Later in life he became wheelchair bound. All who knew him knew that even being in a wheelchair would never stop him from living his life to the fullest. You could find him and his dog (Gotti) rolling from west to east, with his music blasting, from the chair he would sing and dance to his favorite songs. He loved to be around his family and friends, cracking jokes, and talking mess to everyone. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the movies, going to concerts and going out to eat with his children. He loved to eat good food and loved it when his family and friends would bring him plates. He was truly loved by everyone.
Preceding him in death were his parents Hazel Matthews and William Brown Sr., sisters Deborah, Lauretta and Joan, brothers Kenneth, Gene, and Clarence, nieces Markita, Latarsha, Rhonda, and Zambia, nephews Ronald, Kevin and Roderick.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his children, LaShawnda (Lil), Stephan (Squirrel) and Shanae (Booda);' honorary son, Levi (Ritchie Rich); son-in-law, Jesse; grandchildren, Stephen Jr., Darrell, Jacob, Ge'Shawn and Dior; sisters, Martha, Gwendolyn, Mechelle, Patsy and Charlette; brothers, Junior and Donald; nieces, Marsha, Sharta, Kenyarda, Nachelle and Nathera; nephews, Donnell, Gene, Richard, Byron, Clearance Jr. and Michael; significant other, Lisa; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, family and friends.
