In the afternoon hours on Monday, February 22, 2016, God looked over
the balcony of glory and saw the conditions of His servant, STEVEN
"STEVE" BLAND, at his home. An angel was dispatched to him
and softly whispered, "come unto me and I will give you eternal rest".
Steve accepted the call and rose to a higher realm with His Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ.
Steven W. Bland was born February 1, 1953 to the late William E.
Bland and Katie 1. Bland.
Steven received his education in the Baltimore public school system.
He learned the skills of a painter at a young age and continued his
career to become a Master Painter.
Steven was raised on West Lexington Street and lived there all of his
life. He enjoyed his parent's home and neighborhood. He maintained
everything in his parent's home the same way they kept it when they
were alive. When entering the home, he would stop you and say "wipe
your feet". He made sure you did not mess up those hardwood floors.
Not only did Steven enjoy his parent's home, he also enjoyed the
neighborhood; spending time talking, laughing and reminiscing with
the neighbors. His laughter and jokes were always heartfelt. He may
have missed his calling as a comedian.
If you were fortunate to have paint work done by Steven, not a drop
was left on the floor, furniture or himself. Steven took much pride in his
work. Steven was not only neat, but well organized. His preparation
was just as detailed as the finished product. Steven was gifted with the
creativity of design, the likes of which we will not see again.
Steven leaves a family that is grateful to God for allowing them to
have such happy memories that will always remind them of the love
and thoughtfulness that he gave throughout the years. He leaves to
celebrate his life: three sisters, Betty Bland, Katrina Bland and Elaine
Curtis; his twin brother, Stanley Bland; an aunt, Mary Cobbs; nieces,
Crystal Russell, Ericka Byrd, Cheryl Gross, Niecy DeWitt; nephews,
Mike Brown, Forrest Burke; numerous cousins; and a host of other
relatives, neighbors and friends. Viewing Joseph H. Brown Jr. Funeral Home
