Synder "Jap" Blanchard, son of the lat Snider and Jessie Blanchard, was born in Eutawville, South Carolina on March 27, 1923. He started his education in South Carolina and finished in Baltimore, Maryland. Jap did a tour in the Merchant Marines, where he acquired his nickname, "Japan". He worked as a stevedore at the shipyards. His travels took him to many places, always a ladies man. From his first marriage, two children were born: Sharon and Reginald Blanchard. During the later years, he fathered four more children, all girls, Charlotte, Stacey, Stephanie and Saundra. Synder loves his family and friends. He was one of the black entrepreneurs in this area. As well known as he was, he was still a very private person. He lived life to the fullest. He has touched many lives. Jap was a genious in finances and affection. Whether, he was Pops, Dad, Grandpop, Grans, ect., all was drawn to him, as he sat in his office like "The Mayor of Fulton Avenue." He will surely be missed. On November 20, 2010, Snyder went on to jion his brothers and sisters, who preceded him in death, Milton, general, Rosa, Lee, Ollie Mae, Herbert and his devoted brother, Glenn. He leaves to mourn; six loving children, Sharon, Reginald, Charlotte, Stacey, Stephanie and Saundra; grandchildren, great-grandkids; one brother John; four sisters, Fellomay, Josephine, roberta and Bonita; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; one special godson, Larry and many, many, many friends, one special life time friend, one special friend and personal care giver.
