Obituary

TIKIA LAKIESHA WHITFIELD, daughter of Juanita Rich and the late Thomas Whitfield was born on August 2, 1985 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was called home on May 3, 2014. Tikia received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. Her passion in life was to be happy and successful at whatever she did. She loved to read. Tikia was also an excellent writer of poems and short stories and at one point was working on getting them published. She was full of love and life. As a little girl, she never allowed anyone to step into her presence without giving her a hug or showing some form of affection. She would greet you with a huge smile and her arms stretched wide open. That same smile and level of affection transcended into her adult life. Tikia had a heart of "GOLD". She was always able to find the good in others. She aimed to please the people she loved and would go above and beyond to help them in any way she could, even if it meant inconveniencing herself. At the same time she was never afraid to try something new. She understood self fulfillment. Whether there was a reward or consequence on the other end of her decision, she was prepared to face it head on and it didn't matter what others thought or said. She was determined to do what made her happy. She enjoyed a rich social life filled with all genres. She loved traveling, with Miami being her favorite destination. She was also a health fanatic, always trying to get people to eat the nastiest healthy foods. As she held the food up with a smile on her face she would say, "Come on try it. It's good for you." Tikia was very family oriented and often spoke of her love for her mother, brother, nephew Carter and fiance Greg. She loved Carter as if he were her own son. Ouality time with friends and family was a high priority for her and her actions displayed it. She leaves to mourn: her mother, Juanita Rich; brother, Jamal Grimes; nephew, Carter Grimes; her devoted fiance, Gregory Louis; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
