IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Teresa
Brand
September 2, 1959 – April 2, 2025
Baltimore's very own Queen, TERESA WARNEL BRAND, affectionately known as "Terri" or "Proper," entered into eternal peace on April 2, 2025, in the comfort of her home. Born on September 2,1959 to the late Minnie Ruth Brand and King Warren Brand, she was the eldest girl of six siblings and the fearless leader of her family.
Raised in Sandtown, known from Fulton Avenue to around the way, Teresa was a powerful light - a vibrant blend of sass, sweetness, and spirit. She graduated from Frederick Douglass High School, always leaving an impression with her polished look, confident walk, and that unforgettable, loud, proud voice that could be heard from blocks away. She lived in pain often, but you'd never know it - Teresa pushed through every hardship with joy, grace, and her signature goofiness. She was the girl who could crack a joke mid-tear, make you laugh during the worst days, and find a reason to dance through it all. But let it be known -Teresa was a fighter. She may have been cute, stylish, and full of laughter, but if it came to her children, her siblings, or anyone she loved, that soft voice turned sharp real quick. She was incredibly close with her siblings: Stephanie Brand, Amy Brand, Rona Brand, Lorie Brand, and Michael Brand. Teresa and her sisters grew up going to church every day as children - not out of obligation, but out of pure joy.
That faith never left her. In the early '80s, she met her first great love - Bruce Brooks, aka Big Kim, and the two shared 17 years of a passionate bond that brought eight beautiful children into the world: Delores, Lakeah,Tenikia, Bruce Jr., Shanikia, Latia, Kimberly, and Brittany.
Later in life, she found love again and married Andre Curtis, living out her days with grace, warmth, and unwavering love. Now reunited in glory with her parents, Minnie Ruth Brand and King Warren Brand, siblings Rona, Lorie and Michael Brand, her beloved husband Andre,
and her precious grandsons Markeese and Tavon Brown. Teresa leaves behind a legacy too radiant to fade. She was a mother, sister, protector, friend, fashion icon, prayer warrior, and the life of every party. And though her voice has quieted, her echo lives on - in every laugh, every prayer, every memory
