Thelma Rosemae Eaton, daughter of the late Edward and Ruth Diggs, was born on August 18, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was affectionately known as "Bootzy"
Thelma (Bootzy) confessed her faith in Christ at an early and joined Cornerstone Church of Christ under the leadership of the late Dr. Rev. Logan Kearse in Baltimore, Maryland. She was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System.
Thelma (Bootzy) obtained her cosmetologist licensure at APEX School' of Cosmetology / Fashions in New York City. In 1959, Bootzy met the love of her life and married Herman Leon Eaton, Sr. on October 22, 1966 and from this union seven children were born; Robert, Herman, Jr., Sherman, Sr., Sheryl, Melva and the twins John & Joyce.
Bootzy was employed at Lafayette Beautician House of Beauty in the 1960's. In later year, she pursued employment at Johns Hopkins University in Environment Services where she retired in August of 2000. After retiring, she relocated to Philadelphia with her oldest son Robert (Bobby), where she met a senior friend the late Ms. Colin and they did a lot of shopping, eating out and going to church.
Thelma returned to Baltimore in 2011 and moved into Senior Living at 2200 Homewood Avenue. She and the residents of Homewood Community started the Garden Club of Producers.
Thelma (Bootzy) was a superb cook who enjoyed cooking for her children and grandchildren. One of her family favorite dishes was grandma's recipe for rice pudding and homemade biscuits.
Thelma (Bootzy) made numerous friends at Homewood Senior Living Community; Ms. Edna, Ms. Ann and Martin Singleton. She also had a very special nephew, Troy Barney that was very dear to her heart
During Thelma (Bootzy) last days, one of her bright stars was to open her eyes to the sound of her one and only husband Herman (Leon) Eaton, Sr. This last minute connection brought the peace of a friendship that surpassed all understanding. The joy of the smile she gave, warmed the place in happiness.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ruth Diggs; brother, Mitchell, Samuel (Sonny), Norm (Bunny) and baby sister Brenda.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Robert (Bobby), Herman, Jr. (Deniece), Sherman, Sr. (Kellie), Sheryl (Barry), Melva, the twins (John & Joyce) (William), a grand total of seventy-six grandchildren, her very dear sisters, Mildred Hall (Sissy), Dorthy Johnson (Dot), one brother John (Baebro) Diggs; one very special friend ofthirty-two years, Selma (Thomas) McNair, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
