Honoring the most remarkable and courageous woman that God has chosen for His service. THELMA CRAWFORD TAYLOR was the oldest child of six children born to the late Sammuel Jerome Crawford and Christine Beatrice Crawford-Jones, and the late stepfather, Wiley Jones. Thelma was born on June 11, 1920 in Baltimore, Maryland. On Wednesday, August 21, 2013, after enduring a lengthy illness, the angels of the Lord received Thelma home to a peaceful and glorious rest. On that day Thelma surrendered her cross to receive her crown. Thelma attended Baltimore City Public School #132, she completed her academics graduating from Carver Vocational Technical High School. At Carver she obtained her culinary skills and was able to practice and utilize her trade in the arts. She later met and married the late John Solmon Taylor, out of this union they were blessed with nine children: five sons, the late Robert and Glen Taylor, Cornelius, David and Mark Taylor; four daughters, Christine, Charlotte, Bernell and Delia Taylor; and one adopted son, the late James Webb. She loved to 'crochet, do embroidery and cook scrumptious dishes, especially her famous potato salad, "Trotters" (pig feet), candied sweet potatos and the most enormous, delicious meat loaf that your eyes have ever seen. As a child, she had always been spiritually motivated, at the age of sixty years old she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at Bethel A.M.E. Church. Thelma was a missionary for the Lord, and was very active in the Adele Carr Prison Ministry. She enjoyed and loved to fellowship and was always spiritually encouraging boys and girls from near and far at the Montrose Facility. Her servitude extended far beyond her immediate family that included all who may have needed guidance and was fortunate enough to cross her path, she always maintained a positive, spiritual, holistic mind frame in making decisions affecting their lives. God later called her to join Agape Fellowship Miracle Church, under the founder and leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Elenora Bryant-Graham. She serviced under the pastoralship of Rev. Cynthia Gaston at Agape Miracle Church. At the age of ninety she experienced a difficult time in her life that caused her to slow down, but not give up. Even with the loss of both legs she was determined to hold on to God's unchanging hands, declaring that no weapon formed against her shall prosper. But she remained mighty in God through the pulling down of strong holds. Thelma, better known as "Bubbles," "Mama Nucum," "NaNa," "Mother Taylor," "Mom" and "Mommy," was the matriarch of the entire Crawford and Taylor family and will be remembered and gready missed by everyone who knew her. Thelma leaves to cherish in your loving hearts her memories: four daughters, Christine, Charlotte, Bernell and Delia; three sons, Cornelius, David and Mark Taylor; son-in-law, Maurice Peters; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Taylor; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Irma Scott; a host of great-nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Sammuel and David Crawford; three sisters, Louise Taylor, Lavinia Wallace and Violet Reed; three brothers-in-law, Therman Scott, William Wallace and Lee Reed.
