Theodore Roosevelt Shannon was born June 10, 1954 to Chappel & Jessie M.
Shannon. Both parents have proceeded him in death. He was the youngest of fourteen chil-
dren. On Friday evening, October 11, 2019, Evelyn received the news that the Lord had called
her husband from labor to rest at University Hospital.
Theodore R. Shannon, known as Teddy, was born in Manning, South Carolina, but was
raised in Brooklyn, New York. Teddy married the love of his life, Evelyn, on December 21,
1974. Out of this union they had three children, Theodis, LeVar and Shontell. LeVar Shan-
non, his son, proceeded him in death.
Teddy received his education in the New York School System and continued his education on
a collegiate level to pursue his career as an accountant.
Later in life he decided to move his family to North Carolina, South Carolina, and finally set-
tled in Baltimore, Maryland.
Teddy loved his family and any type of family celebrations. He was sure to be "grill ready"
with his hat and apron to take over the grill at any time. He was always the life of the party
and loved dancing. He livened up any party with his personal style of dancing.
Teddy loved and spoiled his grandchildren and was known as "Pop Pop". They held a special
place in his heart. He cherished all his nieces and nephews and would tell each one of them
they were his "favorite."
Teddy loved Chopper (cat), Rabbit (dog) and Mercedes (dog).
Teddy was a member of the United Church of Love and Deliverance, under the leadership of
Pastor Antimar Payton, his nephew. He loved his church and served on the Men's Ministry
and the Kitchen Committee where his skills were utilized.
Teddy is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Evelyn, two children, Theodis and Shontel
and one daughter in law, Qiania of Baltimore, Maryland. He has one sister, Carol Wilcher of
Miami, Florida, two brothers, Joe (Ann) of Savanna, Georgia and Lee (Sandra) of Brooklyn,
New York~ His in-laws include Betty Shannon, Willie Shannon, Ella Shannon, Vera, Betty,
Georgia, Mary (Derrick), Thomas, James, and Eric (Bonnie). His eleven grandchildren,
Ja'Qwan, LeVar, Jr., Roshaud, Jazmia, Raekwon, Dominique, Dontae, Christian, Aniya,
Ayiona, and Ama'RE one great-grandchild, Marlee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,
family and friends. Ten siblings have proceeded him in death.
