IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Theron
Mcclary
February 29, 1988 – August 12, 2017
JACK JOHNSON JR,
son of the late Jack Johnson Sr. and Cora Lee Pickens, was
born on January 14, 1924 in Huntington, West Virginia. He departed this life
on July 14,2017.
He received his education in the West Virginia School System.
After his education he enlisted in the U.S. Armed Services, upon honorable
discharge he gained employment at Bethlehem Steel Shipyard in Sparrows
Point. He retired from the shipyard after working there over 30 years. He was
also a master barber and worked at Mr. Taylor's Barbershop.
Jack married the love of his life Janie Bell Young in 1947. Together they raised
six children.
Jack learned the truth about the Bible from Bro. William (Bill) Anderson and
was moved to dedicate his life to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah's
Witnesses in 1964. He faithfully served Jehovah for over 50 years.
He made numerous friends wherever he went and will be sincerely missed by
everyone. Jack had a passion for life, good food, music, dancing, and people.
But most of all he loved talking to people about his God Jehovah and the
blessings of Gods Kingdom. He would often say, " Jesus is waiting on
you ... don't hold Him up or you will get left behind." He loved the JW
Broadcast. He would say, "I can't believe it..we are on the TV!" Jack had
limited vision but his hearing was excellent although he would often deny it,
saying, "speak up! I can't hear you!" Jack could listen to the public discourse
at the Kingdom Hall and could then recite the talk almost word for word!
In his early years in the truth, he enjoyed many privileges of sacred service, one
of which was cooking at the various conventions and on one occasion at Bethel
using a wood burning stove outdoors before Bethels indoor kitchen was
completed.
Gods Kingdom was real to Jack and he wanted it to be real to others that he
preached to. (Isaiah 25:1) His faith in Gods promises never wavered.
Jack is predeceased by his loving wife, Janie Johnson, three daughters, Estell,
Jacqueline, and Lana; eight siblings, Louise, Alma, Edward, Henry, Harvey,
AI, Janie and Johnny.
He leaves to mourn: daughters, Vivian, Brenda and Mae; sisters, Cora and
Laura; 13 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
