His parents,4 brothers : Johnny, Charlie ,Willie and Samuel; and 2 sisters: Annie Mae and Robertha, preceded him in death. He received his formal education in South Carolina public schools and graduated from Scotch Branch Senior High School. Thomas was a trusted student and drove the school bus before and after school as his part-time job. After graduating from high school, Thomas relocated to Baltimore, MD where he met and married the former Patricia Jackson. The Lord blessed this union with four children. Thomas was a kind, hardworking, and quiet man who was devoted to his family, friends, and community. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, and joined the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church on November 15, 1964. For exactly 41 years to the date of his demise, he faithfully served with the Senior Male Usher Board, having joined April 4, 1973. For many years, Thomas was employed by the church as a certified culinary steward, cooking for many Sunday and weekday events. He worked for several Baltimore businesses including General Motors, Yellow Taxi, and Montgomery Wards. To fulfill his dream of business ownership, and to make a better life for his family, he started Mellerson Trucking, a successful dump truck business. He also worked many years for the DC Department of Corrections - Central Detention Facilities. Thomas enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, and landscaping. He grew vegetables in his home garden. He was a true family man who loved to travel with his wife. He assisted many of his family, friends, and neighbors with his generous acts of kindness.
