Thomas Mims was born May 25, 1935 in Clinton, South Carolina to the late Joseph and Jannie Jack Mims.

He transitioned from his earthly body to his heavenly soul on November 22, 2016 at 7:45 a.m. But before he is mourned his brilliant life is to be celebrated by his legacy that lives on. As "the son of a share cropper" Pops had values like hard work and family unity instilled in him at an early age. At the age of21 Pops enlisted in the United States Navy to help support his family and to broaden his horizons at the same time; which eventually led him to Baltimore, Maryland where he met his first wife, Catherine Henson. The union brought fourth five beautiful children, four girls and one boy, Romaine Stewart, Thomas Mims Jr., Sharon Mims, Roxanne Prideau and Veronica Mims.

Dad eventually moved on to meet his second and current wife of 43 years, Cornelia Mims, from this union Pops completed his legacy with his second son, Dario Mims who came along 17 years after his youngest child. Which Pops loved to brag about because he still had "it".

Besides leaving behind six children to cherish many fond memories, he also has eleven grandchildren, even more great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Also a very special life long friend, Mrs. Bernice Brooks. When Pops finally transitioned to his spiritual form, he was welcomed by his sisters, Christine Brewster and Annie Byrd Pitts; his brothers, Perry Mims, Rev. Ernest Mims, Joseph Mims and John Wesley Mims and his parents, Joseph and Jannie Mims. They are all Reunited Resting in Paradise.
