October 18, 1941 – January 21, 2021
Thomas Carroll Smith, son of the late John Smith and Mary Lewis, was born on October 18, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this world to enter in God's Kingdom Thursday, January 21, 2021 after a brief illness. Thomas was educated in the Baltimore City Schools where he graduated from Frederick Douglass High School. He took pride in serving as a Hall Monitor while attending there.
He was a fun loving person who had a deep passion for bowling. He loved the game. He served on many leagues and won numerous trophies for his outstanding performance.
In August, 1967, he married Sylvia Dailey which ended after 28 years. They divorced in June, 1996. From that union, they had two children a daughter, Renee Smith and a son, Thomas Smith, Jr. (better known as Tommy).
Thomas began his working career at the Suburban Country Club. From there, he worked for Read's (now Rite Aid) for a few years as a delivery driver before going to the 7-Up Bottling Company as a truck driver. He eventually became self-employed operating a convenient store and a laundromat. After several years, he returned to work as a security guard with Watkins Security Company where he stayed until becoming ill in March, 2019.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Tommy; his daughter, Renee; four grandchildren, Akil, Destini, Shamary and Mia; two great grandchildren, Nala and Elias; three nieces, Wanda, Michelle and Monica; one nephew, Jermaine; his significant other, Rachel and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
