IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Timothy L.
Camphor
February 24, 1953 – March 27, 2019
Timothy Lawrence Camphor, son of the late Beatrice Young and James Camphor
was born on Tuesday, February 24,1953 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this
life on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 peacefully in his home.
Timothy received his primary education at Cherry Hill Elementary School #159,
his middle school education at Cherry Hill Junior High School # 180 and his high
school education at Carver Vocational-Technical High School #454 where he took
a special interest in tailoring. He even made one of his closest friends' prom
dresses. When asked about his education he would proudly resonate each one of his
school songs, note for note.
Timothy began his career as a track-inspector for CSX in 1973 . He worked there
for a total of 22 years before an injury forced his early retirement.
Timmy, as he was affectionately known, grew up in the Cherry Hill Community.
He had a love for singing and performing. He formed a group called the Velvetones
and would perform at local recreation centers and competitions. Timmy had a mean
two step and could put together a routine in a heartbeat. He was known to call
family and friends on their birthdays and burst into song right after you said
"Hello". He loved his Cherry Hill family and kept in contact with many of his
childhood friends throughout his life.
Timmy also had a serious passion for fishing, and was the best at finding the
unknown, undiscovered fishing spots in Baltimore, often pulling the car over
without warning just to cast his rod in the water. Many people had their first fishing
experience with Timmy as he would often take his friends and even his children's
friends along for a day on the water.
Timothy joins his brother and best friend Alvin who preceded him in death.
Timothy leaves to cherish his memory and retell his story, four sons, Eric, Timothy
(Constance), Joshua (Shanica), and Brandon; two daughters, Shawn and Kimberly
(Robert); five brothers, James "Winky", Arnold, Reginald Sr., Rodney and David;
four grandsons, Kimarh, Daquan, Quadir and Avant; two god-daughters Latevia
and Zenora; two nephews who were like sons, Dedric and Reginald Jr. and a host
of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and extended family.
To be a "friend" of Timothy's was to be considered "FAMILY" in his heart.
