Obituary

Towanda Antionette Carter, daughter of Monica a. Pinkett and James E. Carter, was born on November 4, 1966 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on february 14, 2006 after a lengthy illness. When ''Wanda'' was nearly 4 years old, a step-father came into her life, Charles Ellis, Jr. along with extened family members. He and his siblings' influence carried over into her adult life. ''Wanda'' graduated from Edmondson High School in Baltimore in the Class of 1984. There she was very popular. She wa a ''Pom-Pom'' Girl, pitched girl's softball and loved to participate in various extra-ciccicular events such as dances, talent and fashion shows and especially roller skating trips. During her high school years she was nick-named ''China Doll''. Her natural talents included calligraphy, drawing, oil painting, fashion design and hair styling. her posst-secondary education led her to the Eldorado Beauty Academy, ITT Business Institute from which she received a certificate of completion and the Edmondson Westside Adult Center, where she took coursework to become a Geriatric Nursing Assistant. Wanda held several positions during her working career that included summer jobs as an Activities Assistant for the hearing impaired/death children, paraprofessional at Carver High Adult Evening School, hair stylist at various salons in the Baltimore Metropolitan area, alterations person at Hamburgers Department Store, seamstrees for a swimsuite manufacturer Manager at Lion Brothers International Embroidery, Inc. and a live-in Resident Manager at an Our house Assistant Living Facility. Her last known place of employment was the ACME Transfer Company. On February 7, 2002, twin girls Monica & Michayla wereborn unto Wanda and Donnell Webb. she said that they were her ''miracles'' and often referred to them as her ''Pride Monica & Joy'' Michayla. She sewed robes and pajamas for them and of course, loved to comb their hair. Wanda was a ''happy-go-lucky'' person with a really good heart. She lived her life as she wanted - not others' expectations or dreams for her life. She had a great sense of humor. Even in a bad situation she could make a person find something in it to laugh about later. She was the kind of person who would ''fall down'', but refused to stay down. She would get up and get right back in the game of life. She loved having family gatherings, particularly ''cook-outs''. Nothing brought her more joy than to be among her family particularly with her ''adored''brothers and her Aunt ''Cella, eating her favorite dish of spaghetti or seafood. She was personable to an extreme - she was fashionably ''coordinated'' literally from head to toe-fingernail and toe nail colors and designs had to match as well. Whenever Wanda attended church services, she would always go to the altar for prayer. She went beyond that on New Year's Eve, 1999 and gave her heart to Christ and joined New Hope Christian Church. She know of the Lord, but decided it was ''high time'' that she got to know him for her self. Wanda was truly a ''Designer's Original''. there will never be another ''Wanda''. She has made memorable impressions in the hearts and minds of numerous family members and friends. Even her care providers of the past six months have said they will never forget her and asked that Wanda's twins come back to visit them.
