TURNER BATTLE, son of the late Frank Davis and Rosie Battle, was born on August 25, 1922 in Davisboro, GA. He was one of ten children (Will, Johnny, Hollis, Noralemon, Nathan, Floyd, James, Charlie, and Florene). His grandmother and grandfather, Mrs. & Mr. Wilson Battle helped to oversee his care. He departed this life on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Future Care-Homewood in Baltimore, Maryland. He enlisted in the military at the age of sixteen; he upped his age, branch of service - Army. He was stationed overseas as a cook for twelve years. He served the Army honorably, and then, ventured out to start a new life in Baltimore, Maryland at the age of twenty-eight. He was married and out of this union two-children were born, Lamont and Lamone; who preceded him in life. Later in life, he met Caledonia Banks and out of this union he had four-children, Robin, CarmenLita, Tammy, and Charles. Much later in life he met Vivian Kesler and out of this union he was blessed to have a family that loved him as well. Turner, worked at least fifty years of his life as a truck driver for a stationery company in Towson, Maryland. Turner and the "blue truck"; one seat just for the driver, was on the road faithfully. Nor, rain, sleet, snow, or hail could keep him from going to work. He would get up early and fix breakfast, pack his lunch and off he went. He would always say "I'm going to continue to work until I cannot work no more." When it was time for him to retire, he found another job and when his time was up there he kept looking but by that time he really needed to take it easy. Turner, a.k.a, Mr. T. loved life and life loved him. He was a provider in more ways than one to everyone he came in contact with. He loved all the children and adults in his life. Most of his friends called him, Mr. T. Saturdays, was his time to see the world all day long and all night long. He loved to spend money, receive money and make money. He liked the oldies but goodies music. His favorite song was "Beat It" by Michael Jackson. He didn't mind putting on a show imitating the dance moves of Michael. "He's probably showing Michael up in Heaven how it's done, and yes, dancing to his favorite song - Beat It." He had this one dance move that stood out beyond all the others. It was called, going to the Mailbox. Only Turner had the moves, and others tried but no comparison. It was his signature dance. His favorite weekend drink was Remy Grand-Cruz, and his famous line was "wanna a taste," and you knew what he meant. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will truly be missed by many whose lives he touched in some kind of way. Turner leaves to cherish his memory beloved friend Vivian, Donna; children, Charles, CarmenLita, Robin, Tammy; grandchildren, Lamont, Davon, Kevin, Nashera, Jessica; fourteen great grandchildren; nephew, Nathan; niece, Linda; and a host of other family and friends.
