IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tyrone
Simmons
February 13, 1954 – December 26, 2016
Tyrone Simmons Sr., lovingly known as "Cup", was born on February 13, 1954 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Henry and Annie Lee Simmons. After a short battle with cancer, he departed this life on December 26,2016, surrounded by his dedicated wife Gloria and loving family and friends.
As a young child, "Cup" accepted a life with Christ. He attended church every Sunday with his brothers and sisters. He received his education through the Baltimore City Public School Systems. After graduating high school, he found employment with the Baltimore Park and Recreation. He started working as a laborer but, quickly worked his way up to becoming a foreman. After 30 years of continuous employment with the city he retired.
"Cup" never lost his love for public service. He was known for getting the best pavilions inside the park for the annual Simmons family reunions. He was a pillar to his community, hosting block parties, shoveling snow, cutting grass, or just lending a hand to a neighbor. During his time, he enjoyed fishing and crabbing, often patronizing Lexington market, and eating a nice big bowl of spaghetti.
"Cup" formed a special bond with many leaving a happy and positive spirit with everyone he met. He had a special bond with his neighbors, Renee and Mark, Harry, Tanea, and Tish Smith, and the nursing staff of Season's Hospice Center.
"Cup", leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Gloria Simmons; two sons, Tyrone and Brian Simmons; two granddaughters, Tykiera and Ty'janae Simmons; one brother, David Simmons (Joyce); two sisters, Rebecca McKnight (John) and Irma Simmons; four siblings who proceeded him in death, Toby, Yemell, Daniel, and Geraldine; and a host of nieces, neph- ews and other relatives and friends.
