IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Varnetta Joy
Armes
January 7, 1954 – July 29, 2017
Varnetta Joy Armes (commonly known as Joy)
was the third of six
children born to the late Varnetta W. and Edward D. Armes. Joy was born
in Baltimore, Maryland on January 7,1954. Surprisingly, she departed on
July 29,2017.
Joy attended Baltimore City Public Schools, graduating from Forrest Park
High School. Following that she attended Coppin State College majoring
in Elementary Education.
Joy's varied interests included traveling, dancing, singing, designing
clothes and creating her own style. She really had a talent for "hooking up"
very unique colorful outfits and always had a hat to top them off. She even
color coordinated her outfits for a month at a time around one color
scheme. She loved plants, collecting American Indian dolls and African
art. She also loved helping others (peoplelcats/dogs) especially during
their time of need.
Joy used her entrepreneurial talent to sell ethnic garments and accessories.
Later, she became one of the mangers in a retail clothing store. Often
customers would specifically request her advice and personal attention to
outfit themselves.
