Obituary

Vincent Leo Miles Sr., the son of the late Vincent Leo Miles Sr. and the late Margaret Brown-Miles was born on February 17, 1938. On October 14, 2015, Vincent Miles departed this life and reunited with his wife, Juanita. Vincent, who was affectionately called "Bill" received his formal education in Baltimore County Public Schools in Essex, Maryland. At an early age, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After serving his country, he soon met and married his loving wife, the late Juanita Miles. The two married on January 7,1959 and out of that union, they raised seven children. His tall stature and athletic build made him the perfect athlete. He loved the game of baseball and played for the Murdoch Hawks. He also enjoyed chess, soulful music, tennis and bowling. Vincent enjoyed spending time with his family making sure to instill in them a since of pride and honor as African Americans. He always encouraged his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews to learn more about their heritage and to take their education serious- ly. Vincent was very active in local politics and the civil rights movements of the 50's and 60's. Vincent was a man whose strength was unparalleled. He was mathematically gifted. Toward the end of his life, Vincent had several health challenges. Through it all, his love for his family and strength to fight never wavered. On the day of his transition, he was his most comfortable because he was with family. His spirit and love will live on through each and everyone of his family members and friends. He was preceded in death by; his wife, Juanita Miles; his daughter, Karen D.Johnson, and his sister, Rosetta Miles-Jones. Vincent leaves to mourn his loving memory: his children; Sharon Miles- Galloway (Billy), Vincent L. Miles Jr. (Elaine), Anthony O. Miles Sr., Valerie D. McKeever (Artie), Kimberly A. Miles (Ori), Terry P. Miles and Angela Miles; his sister, Alfreda Miles; grandchildren, Felicia Howard (Brian), LaTar- sha Cromwell, Anthony O. Miles Jr., Joy Miles, Billie Shabazz, Marcus Shabazz, Maya Williams, Shawn, Tiffany and Dana; 11 great grand; 1 great great grand; aunts, Mozella Elliot, Elizabeth, Simmons and Ella Myers Dem- by; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
