Viola Hatcher, daughter of the late William and Susie Jones, was born on August 13, 1918 in Cumberland, Virginia. She departed this life on February 15, 2006 after a lengthy illness. Viola received her education in Cumberland, Va. At the age of nineteen she married the late Lawrence R. Hatcher. She then relocated to Newark, N.J. where she resided for sixty-five years befor relocating to Baltimore, Md. in 2002. Out of this union three children were born, one daughter Viola Hatcher, two sons, Wali Hatcher and Ervin Hatcher. Viola was a guiet person with numerous friends and she will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew her. She leaves to mourn her precious memory: her daughter, Viola Hatcher; two sons, Wali and Ervin Hatcher; one sister, alberta Harris; thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, three aunts, one uncle and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. And last but not least, the person who stuck by her in sickness and health and did everything he could and more, Admiral Townes.
